Fifth Avenue South. Naples’ bustling main street. Guests walk to boutiques, antique shops, galleries, financial houses, bistros and restaurants. Continuing renewal has brought restaurants out onto the sidewalks adjacent to the landscaped promenades, and has sparked the genesis of what has been termed Naples’ “cafe society.”

Third Street South. Filled with Naples’ most historic landmarks, gardens that are a horticulturist’s delight, and high-style/low-rise Mediterranean-Floridian architecture shaded by hundred-year-old banyan trees. Sun-dappled brick paths, garden courtyards and open plazas with splashing antique fountains invite visitors to relax in the charm and grace of a bygone era.

Cambier Park. Often the site of outdoor concerts and events, the park features lighted tennis, horseshoe, shuffleboard and basketball courts, plus an open play area, tot lot and bandshell.

Tin City. This funky, ramshackle waterside shopping spot occupies an old oyster-processing plant with 40 shops and two restaurants. It specializes in sea-themed gifts, dining on the water and boat charters and tours.

Sugden Community Theatre. The new home of the Naples Players, a 40-year-old community theater troupe. Completed in fall 1998, the $5.3 million complex features a main theater, studio theater and outdoor stage.

Historic Naples Fishing Pier. The 1,000-foot pier remains Old Naples’ focal point. Florida’s longest no-fee pier, it is a popular gathering spot for fishermen, strollers, sunset gazers, pelicans and dolphins.

Palm Cottage. Built in 1895, the simple cottage was one of Naples’ earliest buildings and one of the first in Southwest Florida to be constructed of local materials. Furnished with period pieces, it is headquarters for the Collier County Historical Society and open for tours. Located near the pier.

Art galleries. Listed in John Villani’s “The Best Small Art Towns in America: Where To Find Fresh Air, Creative People and Affordable Living,” Naples is known far and wide for its art galleries and their diverse scope. You will find colorful Haitian visions, the Gullah people portrayals of Jonathan Green, Clyde Butcher’s world-renowned wilderness photographs, whimsical bird sculptures, functional art, local watercolor scenes, European-style oils and exquisite hand-blown glass.
